People compare options by the price of a vial, which is close to meaningless, because vials differ in strength and people differ in dose. The comparable number is cost per dose, and it takes one extra division to get.
Doses per vial is the total milligrams in the vial divided by your dose in milligrams, rounded down, because a partial dose at the end is not a dose. Cost per dose is the vial price divided by that count.
Rounding down is where most of the surprise lives. A vial that yields 4.6 doses yields four. The leftover is real substance that you paid for and cannot conveniently use, and at some dose-to-vial ratios that waste is a large fraction of what you spend.
This is also why the arithmetic changes during titration. A vial size that divides neatly at one dose can waste a fifth of itself at the next step up. Working out the cost per dose at each planned dose, before you commit to a supply, sometimes changes which vial size you want.
Keep the actual paid prices and dates in the same place as the dose history.
